Charities invited to comment on draft laws

Charities have been invited to comment on bills to be tabled later this year by the minister for the third sector, Phil Hope.
Mr Hope told charity representatives they have a unique opportunity to comment on and review the bills ahead of ministerial debate, Charity Finance reports.
"It really is an important opportunity to influence the direction of the government's legislative programme," he told delegates at the National Council for Voluntary Organisations' (NCVO) sustainable fundraising conference in London.
He said it is important that the views of the most marginalised people are represented in the draft legislative programme (DLP) consultation.
The DLP was announced in May and includes 18 bills, some of which will impact on the work of charities and their service-users according to Charity Finance.
Mr Hope highlighted the NHS reform bill as one where the government was looking for third sector input, as well as the community empowerment, housing and economic regeneration bill.
He said the welfare reform and heritage protection bills will also impact on many organisations in the sector.
The NCVO was founded in 1919 to represent the views of members and the wider voluntary sector to government, the European Union and other bodies.
