Businessman posts divorce settlement online

A businessman has published details of his multi-million pound divorce settlement on the internet in an effort to dispel gossip.

Publishing entrepreneur Gary Dean, from Lancashire, said rumours he was 'tight' prompted him to set up the site following the payout he made when leaving wife Helen.

Called The Truth About Helen Louise Dean Vs Gary Dean, the page revealed he paid a lump sum of £3,719,000 plus £15,000 per child per year until the age of 17 or the end of full-time education.

The site later showed only a blank, black page after apparently being taken down.

Dean said he had been depicted by some people as a "greedy, tight, ruthless" man "who abandoned my wife and children".

The move is a twist on the trend for high-profile British separations, usually only involving divorce lawyers acting out cases in private.

He said: "It's simply not true at all and I've decided that instead of allowing the rumour mill to continue churning out nonsense, I'd just set out the actual facts to stop it."

Other parts of the settlement showed Mrs Dean will keep all her jewellery, diamonds and watches, plus two cars and their personal number plates.
