Leaflets launched for children of divorcing parents

New leaflets for children whose parents are divorcing or separating have been published by Cafcass, the organisation that looks after children's interests in the court.
The publications provide help and advice and are available in two age ranges – younger for children under 12 and older for those over 12.
Called My Family's Changing, they have been designed to address the emotional impact that a divorce or separation can have on children.
As well as advice, details of organisations that could offer further help and stories from other children, the leaflets include sections for children to explore and write down their feelings.
Anthony Douglas, Cafcass chief executive, says: "The leaflets help children to crystallise their feelings and builds an understanding of the process that lies ahead when their parents are divorcing or separating."
Cafcass was set up in April 2001 under the Criminal Justice and Court Services Act to advise family courts, make provision for children to be represented and provide information, advice and support to children and their families.
The leaflets are available from www.cafcass.gov.uk.
