In order to address the issue of workplace deaths, an MP is to host an event to enable politicians to discuss ways of achieving greater protection for employees.
Workplace Law Network reports that Michael Clapham, who chairs the all party parliamentary group on occupational safety and health, is calling for health and safety to feature in the national curriculum.
According to the news provider, one of the ideas to be discussed at the meeting will be making the Workplace Hazard Awareness Course a requirement for 15-year-olds.
"I want to see what we can do to help prevent further loss of young lives when they enter the workplace in the future," Mr Clapham said.
The awareness course developed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health - is an "invaluable" tool that could be made "compulsory" for students before they leave school and begin working, he added.
Figures produced by the HSE for 2006-07 revealed that 241 workers were killed at work during this period.
