Travel firm facing legal case after holiday illnesses
08 July 2008
A travel firm is facing up to a legal case brought by a family which fell seriously ill while on holiday in Egypt.
Kim and Kelvin Hickmore, from Bognor Regis, West Sussex are pursuing action against First Choice after they and their two children became unwell while at the Holiday Village hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.
All four suffered with symptoms including high temperatures, diarrhoea and stomach pain with eleven-month-old Logan ending up in hospital due to the illness.
Quoted by the BBC, Mrs Hickmore said: "It was awful. The abdominal pains were so severe I would compare them to labour pains."
The corporation's website also reports First Choice said a hygiene audit of the family's hotel took place on June 12th which found nothing of "undue concern".
Holidaymaker assistance group HolidayTravelWatch said it had received regular reports of illness and poor standards in Egyptian hotels and resorts since 2007.
