Jo graduated from University in Manchester and qualified as a solicitor in 1990. She joined the firm as an employment law specialist and became a partner in April 2000. Jo is well versed in all areas of employment law and regularly advises on business restructures, acquisitions and mergers, closures of final salary pension schemes and injunctive proceedings. She also specialises in discrimination and whistle-blowing claims and negotiates senior executive's exit strategies for both companies and individuals.

She acts for a broad range of corporate and high net worth private clients, notably acting for Dr Kuzel in her case against Roche and also acting in the now widely reported age discrimination case on behalf of a partner forced to retire in pursuance of a compulsory retirement clause (Seldon VS Clarkson Wright and Jakes). She also spearheads the practice's case study seminars and employment law publications.

Her three young children keep Jo busy outside the office and she is also the governor of a local school, although she enjoys relaxing whenever possible with a good book and an open fire.

David graduated in 1995 from Brunel University, qualified in December 1999 and worked for a north London firm specialising in employment law. David was promoted to senior associate in 2007 and made partner in 2008.

David specialises in all areas of employment law, including discrimination, trade union law and collective consultation, with particular emphasis on advising employers on large mergers, share and asset acquisitions, the implementation of cash and share based employee benefit schemes, the creation and enforceability of service agreements, policies, procedures and immigration matters. He also advises executives and directors on their termination packages and post-termination restrictions and advises individuals and companies in the financial sector on the termination and recruitment of staff. David provides in-house employment and diversity training for corporate clients.

Kathryn Fielder

Senior Associate

Kathryn is a graduate of Southampton University and joined B P Collins in 1988 soon after qualifying as a solicitor. She worked for several years in the Litigation & dispute resolution pratice group but joined the Employment practice group in 1999, where she deals mainly with contentious matters including unfair dismissal, maternity/parental rights and discrimination. She also advises on compromise agreements. Away from the office, Kathryn has two young children and is actively involved in their PTA as well as being a school Governor.

James Townsend

Senior Associate

James is a graduate of the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and the College of Law. He worked for city firm Ashurst as a litigation assistant before undertaking his training with B P Collins. He qualified as a solicitor in 2002 and left B P Collins in 2006 for city firm Beachcroft LLP. He returned to B P Collins in 2007. James advises on all aspects of employment law in both the private and public sectors. He specialises in statutory and contractual disputes, collective consultation issues, executive terminations and the employment aspects of business mergers and acquisitions. He regularly represents clients before the Employment Tribunal. James is a member of the Employment lawyers Association, has an interest in current affairs and is a keen skier.

Trish Morrill

Legal Executive

Trish joined B P Collins in February 2008 from a firm of solicitors in High Wycombe and is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She has over 18 years experience in employment law, having dealt with both contentious and non contentious matters. She advises on a myriad of day-to-day employment issues, including the recruitment, promotion and termination of staff, claims for unfair dismissal and discrimination and the enforceability of contractual terms. She also has extensive experience in civil litigation matters, having litigated extensively in both the High and County Courts. Outside the office, Trish enjoys travelling, cycling and hacking her way around the golf course.
